Kerr, Stuart & Co of Stoke on Trent built 58 narrow gauge "Sirdar" type locomotives from 1899 onwards. There were various detail differences and the design was adaptable to different gauges.
The last, works number 1158 of 1909, was part of an order of 6 locomotives but remained in stock with the builder until 1917 until sold to work on the 2' gauge Kerry Tramway in mid-Wales. Following the closure of the tramway the loco moved on to the Oakeley Quarry near Blaenau Ffestiniog where it received the name "Diana", and later Pen-yr-Orsedd in the Nantlle Valley where it worked until 1950. Diana was sold into preservation in the 1960s, finally restored to working order in 2015, and is currently based at the Amerton Railway in Staffordshire.
Other examples of the class worked in Africa, including South Africa as SAR class NG1, and Mauritius. Works number 652 "Hope" is preserved as a static exhibit in Namibia.
This ready-to-run model in 009 gauge is produced by Rapido Trains UK.
