Manning Wardle L Cab Sheet

This etched brass conversion kit allows you to replace the fixed plastic front sheet on an open cabbed Rapido Trains Manning Wardle L model.

Whilst not complicated, this conversion requires an intermediate level of skill. Those who don’t feel confident can contact James who offers conversion through his commission modelling services.

Assembly notes: 

Remove the handles from the shafts of the controls that pass through the Rapido cab, and gently pull this off the model. It is glued into a slot in the firebox casting.

Remove the etched parts from the fret. The inner is formed first, using the handle of a needle file or similar to help form the curve with half etched lines on the inside. Check the fit and adjust as required. A full width (stronger but harder to line up) and half width inner are provided. The sample model is fitted with the half width inner.

Add the thin, half etched wrapper. This can be soldered (preferred) or superglued together. Paint and add glazing before fitting to the model and refitting any details.
