Prototype Info

The most common of Romanian 0-8-0t narrow gauge locomotives were built over a long period between 1949 and 1988 at the Resita works, and later by Reghin (at their tractor factory). The 150hp locomotives use the ingenious Klien-Linder means of articulation allowing them to run on some quite poorly laid trackwork. Although a few were used by the national network (the CFR) most were used by the national forestry railways (CFF) and a handful on national industrial railways (CFI). Today many examples are still in daily use on both forestry and tourist railways across Romania and wider afield across Europe.
