Huwood Hudswell Mine LocomotivePIL-006 • by Planet Industrials
About the kit
This kit is comprised of a 3D printed plastic body shell and a fret of etched nickel silver detail parts. Limited folding of these parts is required and they can all be glued in place.
The body is designed to fit on the Bachmann "Percy" 0-4-0 chassis from the N gauge Thomas range.
Additional details can be added using parts from the RT Models range.
Please note this is a scale model for adult collectors, and not intended for children under 14 years of age.
In 1948 mining engineers ‘Hugh Wood and Co. Ltd’ and locomotive builders ‘Hudswell, Clarke and Co. Ltd’ formed an alliance to design and build a range of diesel locomotives for use in the rapidly modernising coal industry in the United Kingdom and beyond.
Our kit, a collaboration between Planet Industrials and Narrow Planet, represents an underground example of the smaller 68hp 0-4-0 model, powered by a Gardner engine with conditioned exhaust and extensively flame proofed. The prototype evolved over the years and the kit represents a typical example in terms of design style and features.
Further information on the prototype can be found on the Durham Mining Museum website.
